To my dear, dear readers,
Today’s exciting news is….WE SOLD A BOOK!!! My husband Ian and I have been working on a children’s picture book for years, and we just joyfully sold it to Albert Whitman & Company, a hundred-year-old publisher of children’s books focusing on issues such as multiculturalism, disability, and alternative families. Jacob’s New Dress is scheduled for publication in spring of 2014. I’ll let you know when it’s on bookstore shelves!
I’ve been awful about keeping up with this blog (not to mention how I’ve slacked off on facebook and twitter….and I literally can’t even get IN to my email account right now, so many apologies to those of you who have written), but I think of you often. There is much more I want to tell you but if I tell it all to you now I can’t be sure I’ll ever write another blog post….so that’s it for now. Thanks for reading.

My son brings home a packet of schoolwork for me to look over each Friday. This week he had completed a book report on Jacob’s New Dress! I’m sure he was directed to it, as he’s the one at his school that wears the dresses but I am thrilled – both that our school is encouraging and supportive and that there is one more book out there that lets kids know it’s okay to be who they are.
